Mission Statement

"Desert Communities Federal Credit Union intends to be a strong, secure, community based, financial cooperative, providing its membership with a cost effective range of convenient, quality financial services and products."

The credit union was established in October of 1954, as Havasu Santa Fe Employees Federal Credit Union. Membership was restricted to Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway employees in Needles, California and Parker, Arizona and their family members. The credit union office was located in the historic Santa Fe railroad depot in Needles.

The office moved to a storefront location on Front Street in 1976. In 1982, the credit union was granted a charter and name change by the National Credit Union Administration. Desert Communities Federal Credit Union was born. Individuals that lived or worked within the boundaries of the Needles Unified School District, and their family members, were now eligible to join the credit union. The subsequent increase in members and services required a larger, more efficient office. In 1986, DCFCU built a new office on the corner of Third and D Streets in Needles. An addition was built to house the ATM, it was completed in 1995. Employees of DCFCU continue to provide the membership with first class service from this location.
